You probably know that our metabolism is made up of thousands of biochemical reactions that are vital to our health and survival. But did you know that metabolism does more than just break down fat for energy? It is also responsible for using energy to create new hair, skin, nails, organ tissue, cells, etc.

SAD is a mood disorder that typically affects us when the weather becomes colder in September or October, and ends in April or May when the weather becomes warmer. People with SAD feel depressed during the shorter days of winter, and more cheerful and energetic during the brightness of spring and summer.
According to Dictionary.com, summer is “a period of fruition, fulfillment, happiness, or beauty.” Winter is “a period of time characterized by coldness, misery, barrenness, or death.” And so there you have it — your reason for hibernating through the winter.
But none of us know how many days we have left, so we want to get the most from each day. Life is a gift, meant to be lived to its fullest, appreciated, experienced, and not taken for granted. So how do we find our mojo through the cold and dark days of winter? Do we jump on a flight to a tropical paradise and hang out there until we are graced with the sun once again here? Tempting, but not realistic, perhaps.
